Default 60k Service for 2004 DII

Just purchased a 04 DII with 64K, is there any way to find out if the 60k service has been done? Thought about calling dealer would they have any way of knowing with the VIN?

How big a job is changing the plugs and wires on the 4.6? Is it a major pain to do?

Thanks, Andy

I googled my vin number and found an old dealer ad for the Disco that I bought. I called them up, they looked up my VIN number and had all the service records. They couldn't send them to me, but you can ask them specific questions about what had been done to it.

If it was done by a dealership, it should be recorded by the VIN.

Do a search for the 60K service on herre. DiscoMike has lined out a good list.

If you are replacing your wires, go with the 8MM Magnacor wires. You will need an intake gasket. A few have replaced the wires with lots of patience and skinned knuckles, but it is easier if you remove the intake. Well worth it to do it yourself. The dealer will charge you out the (a lot)....

Yup, mine just needed done, $1,100 at the dealer. Also, if you have secondary air there is really no way I could see that it could be done without removal of intake manifold. The job takes a little time but I really didn't think it was bad at all. Def not $1,100 worth of bad. It would be super easy if it wasn't for the secondary air brackets. Just make sure you have various extensions for your sockets and a good ratchet with close ratchet points helps a lot. As always, the right tools for the job will make it a lot easier.

First, just pull a spark plug to see if it is warn out.
If it still has the original plugs, the service has never been done.
Are you mechanical do you want to save alot by doing it your self, if so get back to me and I'll be glad to walk you thru what needs to be done and with what products.

Thanks,

What am I looking for to determine if they are the original plugs?

I dont claim to be a mechanic but I am able to get around an engine,
