7mm v 8mm wires
i just went to Atlantic British to order 8mm magnecor wires (as per everyone heres suggestion) and was told they don't stock OR recommend using them.
the reason given is that they do not fit inside the wire holder correctly and can pinch the wire.
surely if the 7mm are good enough for Mr landrover (corp) why do people here INSIST on changing to 8mm. I'm not looking for any power increase. just want to replace, as the current wires are not in great shape.
Can you shed some light on this for me?

They are right, the 8mm spark plug wires don't fit in the holders but I still prefer them. The 7mm wires that come from the factory don't hold up to the heat in the engine bay and have to be replace more often. Our engines run hotter than most automobile engines.
7mm is to small and 8.5mm is a little over kill in my opinion. If you try to put the 8mm wires in the plastic holders you could break them or worse damage the insulation on the wires. I would just leave them loose, I think that is what most people do.
I have magnecore 8mm and they fit fine in the holders. I just used a little dieletic grease and they snapped right in. They have been installed for 1.5 years and been great. I double checked the original box and and they are the 8mm for sure. I have a 2003 maybe the holders on newer models are larger...just a guess.
