Default 7mm vs. 8mm spark plug wires

Rock auto has NGK and other wire sets in 7mm for under $25, whereas the Magnecor 8mm wire sets I see are at least $80. Since Rock Auto only sells 7mm wires for the Disco 2, would swapping out my old wires for 7mm wires be bad? thanks guys.

Just ordered a set of kings born 8mm for $30/$40 to my door. Have them on my 04' disco and have no issues.

8 mm silicone wires are a must if you don't want to change them again, and believe ,e you won't want to do it again.
My Magnecores are now 10 years old and have held up to the crazy heat issues in our Disco engine compartments.

FYI, the Bosch replacements are 7mm. I just put a set on this evening and it was a lovely experience.

NO... You really think .5mm in each side of going to same the day? It won't, what's far more important is wire construction. Don't buy say autozone duralasts, the caps pop off.

You're right - the quality of the cable (both conductor and insulator) is a factor. But, I know in terms of Magnecor, it's not only the insulation that is thicker; It's the conductor which is thicker, as well. When multiplied per cm (remember you can't just compare a cross section of .05mm when speaking of the entire length of a cable,) it allows for higher conduction / less resistance.

I have to give my $.02 on this. Bought a set of magnecor 7mm's and was not impressed with the quality vs. price. They seemed a little on the short side and I had to replace one. My next go around I ordered a set of 8mm Kingsborne's and asked them to add 2" to the length. They did so without extra charge. The coil end of the plug is numbered so it made it easy to match to coil order. So far, I have been very happy with the Kinngbornes and feel that the quality, price, and service have been spot on.

I just want to remind people these are land rovers, you can buy the best most expensive everything but it won't change a thing.
