In the Seattle area all grades and brands have 10% ethanol. Non E is generally unavailable. All you can do is buy the best fuel possible with the most detergents. Chevron Premium around here.

Either way though I'd recommend the regular use of either Techron or Seafoam in the gasoline.

Or a full on injection cleanse.

If that doesn't help with your sluggishness then you'll know you've got another issue.

I've tried it a time or two and notice that running with the timing retarded does make the engine louder, rougher, slower and possibly hotter.

Argh!!

You guys are overthinking it.
Do your own research, figure your MPG using different fuels, I get the same MPG no matter what I use, octane wise, for normal driving.
I do get reduced performance while towing a trailer on lower octane fuel.
All of our fuels are E-10 (10% ethanol)
I use premium 98% of the time but if mid-grade non E-10 was available I'd use that instead.

Maybe yours are, we've got a non-ethanol premium place here in VT.

And thats what I meant, locally all of our fuels are E-10.
I guess I should have been more specific.
I found one place 30 miles away from me that has ethanol free premium, but I'm not driving 60 miles for that.

Yeah, I cant wait for E-15 (sarcastic font)
I am glad that they are finally bringing clean diesels to the US, the 2014 Chevy Cruze will have a TDI option.

Don't hit me for saying it, but I'm really happy Jeep is offering a diesel in their grand cherokee, maybe LR will EVER take notice of all the cool sh*t happening around them. Oh wait... they can't see it... because the windows in the Evoque are too small.

I have said for years that LR needs to sell a basic bare bones TDI LR4 to the rural USPS carriers, RHD and all just like Subaru used to do.
Jeep does it still, there are several on my route that have RHD Wranglers.
4x4 for the snow, plenty of room for mail.

Quick Update

Using 92Octane with up to 10% ethanol I was getting 13.2mpg

My first tank of 89 Octane ethanol free I added fuel injector cleaner and when I filled up next I calculated 13.8mpg
With my second tank of 89 Octane ethanol free my check engine light cam on after 2 days of driving. I added a bottle of octane boost and the light went off late that same day. I had checked to make sure the fuel cap was tight and it was). The second tank of 89 E-Free gas got me 14.9mpg and after I put the octane boost in I notice a big improvement going up the steep hills here.

I just filled up with my third tank of 89 E-Free and I put in a bottle of octane boost while filling up.

Thanks
