95 discovery purchase
I am thinking of buying a used 95 discovery. The seller is the 2nd owner and has ALL the records. It is in good shape and drives well. Few things I noticed and want to know if I should pass or spend the $$$ on the pre-inspection:
1. Noticeable oil burning smell; Seller said it is from the valve gasket?
2. Check engine light stayed on during the test drive;
3. SRS light was on;
4. Seller said for the back moonroofs to work, you have to push it up and then the power controls work to slide it back.
Suggestions would be appreciated!

Checke engine light can be expensive, need to check for codes from a small box located under the pass seat, get back to us with the code numbers.
SRS couls be expensive, most likely one of the componets in the system has failed and needs to be done. There is a warning from the factory about inspection and replacement of certain SRS componets every 10 years, BIG $$$$$'s.
Sun roof will be big $, sounds like the lift arms are busted, roof will get stuck soon, $600 or there abouts.
If you are not steeling this one, I would say to stay away from it.
By the way, how many miles on it?

Thanks! So, the rear sunroof should lift by itself, just like the front one? The seller led me to believe that is the way it operates. He said the SRS light is the airbag component that should be changed every 10 years, but he has opted not to get it replaced.
It has 188K on it and he wants $2500.
