Default Purchase advice please - 01 Discovery

I found an 01 Discovery near me listed for 12k. Blue book is like $9800. Do these frequently fetch over blue book?

Also for this year are there any serious gotcha's I should look for when I inspect the vehicle. Please be patient with my lack of knowledge. Till now I've been a Subaru guy but think the Discovery is a neat concept.

Thanks, Ryan

No they don't get over blue... if someone is asking for over blue just keep looking.. they go through local auctions for litterally thousands under the blue book...

Default RE: Purchase advice please - 01 Discovery

I just bought my 01 with 51,400 miles on it for just under $7000 from a Land Rover dealer who got it in on a trade and wanted to move it quickly. I expected something wrong with it but it was in great condition (outside of a barely noticable crack in the windshield). So far I absolutely love it. Even though my Volvo gets almost twice the gas milage, it's been sitting in the garage for the last 3 weeks. If you can do basic maintenance and not have to go to a dealer for every little problem you'll save money. I had the service engine light come on last week. Went to Autozone and they pulled the codes for free. Narrowed it down to either bad plugs or air filter. After changing them out I havent gotten the light since. Cost me around $30 total. Don't know what the dealer would have charged me to do it. Keep your eyes open and you'll stumble on a good deal. From my time here this site seems to have some guys who really know their stuff so that helps diagnosing and fixing minor problems.
