Default 95 Rough Running Disco

Hello All.

95 Discovery with 130k. Runs very rough. problem Started about 6 months ago where the truck wouldn't start when warm (intermittently). It has gotten progressively worse The symptoms now are rough idle and very rough running. It will backfire. It seems to be on the intake portion of one of the cylinders (as I get blowback through the air box). Ocassionally the CEL will come on, and then will clear itself after a while. Since it is OBD1 I don't know where/how I can get the codes read (without going to LR in Denver).

I replaced the plug wires and plugs this weekend (magnecore 8mm and bosch +4). That didn't make any difference.

Going to do the 02 sensors in the next day or two.

Any other ideas of things I should be checking??

Thanks in advance

Sounds like your timing is off.
Get a timing gun or take it in to a indie shop and have them adjust the timing.
Do it tommorrow, before you blow up your engine. Constant backfires will punch a hole in the piston or bend valves.

Thanks Mike. I will give you a call.

First I have to replace the O2 sensors. I got one out easy, but the other one has some weld on it from when the Cats where replaced by the PO.

After I get the second O2 sensor replaced, I will give you a call.

Look for an LED display with a 2 digit code under the passenger seat for the codes. Replace your sensor and call Mike. Wouldn't hurt to call him first.
