So I was doing more digging around and I found someone that said they unplugged the VSS to see if it made a difference. I got home today and unplugged mine. I drove around and it ran perfect! Obviously, I didn't have a speedo but the engine was just smooth.

It looks like a few wires are damaged from rubbing. So tomorrow i'll patch those up and plug it back in to see what happens. I'll also clear the misfire codes tonight and see if they come back as I drive around this evening with the VSS disconnected.

So I finally got around to changing the VSS two nights ago. I have been driving around for a week or so with it unplugged and it's been running great. I plugged it up and tested it around the area and it did fine. But the next day on my way to work it was doing the same things it was before.

I thought maybe the wires needed repair but they didn't seem damaged when I changed it out... I'm dumbfounded...and dumb obviously.

The speedo is working great now with the new VSS - no bouncing. It ran fine with the VSS unplugged. But now it's running rough again. I don't get it.
