Default 96 Disco brakes

Changing the brakes onmy Rover and this is the first time for me. Do you really have to pull the axel shaft out on the rear brakes? Are the rotors pressed onto the hubs? Thanks.

The front are good, just need pads, the rears are gone, rotors are trashed. I was told the rotors are pressed onto the hub, does anyone know if that is true?

i dont think they are pressed on. atleast mine werent. the two are probably rusted together though.

while you have the hub out, might as well change the wheel bearings.

Now this advice about the changing out the rear bearings while you are in there..
I would take it..
This looks to be about a 6.5 on the PITA scale, so why not just do the bearings while you are there, just for peace of mind.

Ok look at the Rave manual..

It does state that the real axle must be removed to to get to the bolts that hold the rotor on the hub.
Now odds are the tolerances are pretty tight..
It does not however say anything about "PRESSING" the rotor on or off..

It might take a Wooden Mallet..
It might take a Machine Shop...

Let us know how it turns out..
