I need to replace the engine in my '96 Disco SE7, 4.0 V8. I was wondering what years are compatable? Does it have to be exact year and model? Also any help on finding a manual would be a great asset.

 

It needs to be from a '96, '97, '98 or a '99 DI and NOT a DII.
The '99 has 2 different models, the one you want has the GEMS engine NOT the Bosch engine.

You want the GEMS.
To make it simple just ask for a 4.0 from a '96-'98.
