96 discovery misfire?
Hi guy's:
I have a 96 discovery w/95,000km's
The vehicle is new to me. I bought it cheap w/ a check engine light on and error codes: PO304B and P1316.
Plugs,wires,O2 sensors and Coil packs replaced.
Check engine light off and major misfire and loss of power is fixed.
Problem: At highway speeds100 kmph going up hills the engine feels like misfire - ie: vibration at a constant frequency and magnitude. Slight throttle adjustment (up or down) and the vibration clears right up. There are no error codes generated.
Are there further ignition components that I should pay attention to or could this be a fuel management problem.
This is my first land rover and I really like the vehicle and if when this is sorted out it will be a great vehicle.
Any help is appreciated
thanks
john

RE: 96 discovery misfire?
Start checking for vacuum leaks,, look around the intake and the vacuum line going to the fuel regulator (just to the back of the intake left side).
Go to auto zone and get them to read the codes or better yet get a OBDII code reader $60 C.D.
Goog luck with your Rover!!!!!!

He probally doesnt have a AutoZone in Canada.
I would have to agree that it is your Vehicle Speed Sensor.
It cuts power to the engine so you cant go to fast (110 mph), when it goes bad it will do it even when not going to fast.
Go to www.discoweb.org and look at the tech page and you will see how to replace it.
