i have a 96 disco as a parts vehicle that my boss owned prior, the only problems with it, is that it was in small accident last winter and banged up one side. Other then that its fine. My question is about the motor making a very loud hissing and popping sound when its running. almost like a helicopter. any ideas?

First thing I'd do is check for vacuum leaks.
