Default 97 Disco won't start b/c key problems

So tonight I lock the our Disco and all seemed fine. but then after dinner i went out to start it up but the Key would not fit all the way in the door lock. i can get in through the other doors but the alarm is still activated. i disconnected the battery but the alarm was still would not let me crank the vehicle.

any suggestions on how to reset the alarm with out getting the key in the driver's side door?

i think that something is wrong with the lock on the driver side door b/c the same key will work for all other locks and even the egnition will allow power to all accessories but not allow me to crank....

any help would be great.

I am assuming you are in an area where the temperature has dropped below freezing.

IF that is the case, then your lock on the driver's door has gotten water in it which is frozen.

This is why the key may not be going in properly to unlock the door.

I hope that this is the case because this is an easy fix.

If you have a remote, lock and unlock the doors 3 times to reset the alarm, this will correct some but not all alarm issues.
