I just picked up a 98 Discovery I and was wondering is it common for the dash lighting to
not come on? The dimmer wheel, which is what I think it is seems to be really easy to spin so i am wondering if that
is the issue possibly? Im suspecting so because the fuses are all good except for my abs which I pulled because just
about when I got to a stop it would engage every time. So I yanked the fuse and it seems fine now. All the other
warning lights and signal light work fine but the dash just isnt backlit. Itraded (stole, only paid 3k for the bike)a
motorcycle forthe vehicle which is in great shape, no rust, 107k, OME 2", BFG MTs,Sony deck, etc. And the air even works LOL
Any help would be great!!!

I have a 98 as well. Nice rig! I havn't had any problems with my dash lights other then the ac/heater control light needing to be replaced. I dont know how mech. savvy you are but I'd start doing some probing to see if the switch is recieving power and if it is able to dim and brighten.

 

Thanks! I used to be a Jeep guy but always wanted one of these. I had a lifted 99 that could hold its own even down here in mucky Florida. But every time I saw one of these do the same thing it looked effortless for it.

Yeah thats what Im hoping for. I can always bypass it until I get another dimmer then too. Good news is that the only codes the computer is throwing is a misfire on cyl 2. Looks like a tune up is all it will take.

 

I found it. I guess it helps if its connected to the dimmer right? LOL It also fixed my right rear tail light
being out too. 1 stone, 2 birds

 

Awesome. Glad to hear you figured it out. I also happen to own a 79 cj7. One hand washes the other . Looking for a hummer H1 next.
