Default '98 Discovery ?'s

Need a steering box. Anyone have any leads on boxes less than $400?

Rear power windows do not work. I purchased and installed the bypass kit for the window module from Atlantic British, but they still do not work????

As for the windows, I assume that you checked the fuse as well as the switches?

For the steering box, Meridian Auto Parts sells rebuilt/exchange units.

For the power windows, can you hear the motor running? If none of them work, it's probably the ECU. But you can test the motor on one to make sure. Pull out the door switch and disconnect it from the connector. On the connector jumper pins 1 (grey and white) & 5 (grey and orange), one to 12v and one to ground. Don't hold it connected because depending on which one you connect to 12v it will try to raise or lower it, regardless if it's already down or up. So if it's down and you hear the motor, but it doesn't go anywhere, reverse them and it will go up, and vise versa. Assuming it's not your motor.

There must be something wrong with it if it doesn't leak. Are you sure there's fluid in it.

The window repair is quite straight forward, it is caused by a dry solder joint on the window relay, 1st remove glove box 4 screws in bottom hinges, the relay box is situated top left hand side black in colour you can unclip the front cover and slide out the electronic board after unplugging the cables you can spot the dry joint on the larger relay it is usualy grey instead of shiny heat up the joint and resolder, I did mine last week and now it works a treat good luck oily
