Q: Do you plan on taking it off road?
A: I will be using it to go hunting in Northern Minnesota, Alaska and Canada for Bear. I will undoubtedly encounter some terrain. So yes, I will be going off road, but not climbing mountains or driving over cars like in the video you posted. More like the stuff you would see at a Land Rover test track. Still if the opportunity came along, I would happily go mudding through a swamp. Does anyone know about fender trimming, backspacing, etc...?

Q: Will the brakes and axles be able to handle 40" tires?
A: I do not know for sure, but I am planning to have longer axles installed to give better tire clearance in turns. I will make sure that they are strong enough. As far as the breaks are concerned, I never imagined that the stock breaks would be compatible with the new and significantly larger tires and wheels, but I did completely forget about factoring in that cost. I could use some suggestions for both the breaks and the axles. The wheels are 20 inches in diameter and 12 inches wide and I am now looking at 36 inch Mickey Thompson Baja Radial SLT tires (size: 36X15.50R20LT). If I can go bigger, I will (up to 40 inches in diameter).

Even though you did not give me answers, these are important questions that I had not considered before now and I appreciate your input. Thank you very much.

I see in your signature that you have a custom rear bumper and I would like to get one as well. I like ARB, but they appear to not offer rear bumpers for rovers. Where did you go?

Concerning my axles, diffs bearing, t/case and the whole power train in general, what would you recommend?

Click on the link on the RoverTym website about the SilverBeastie. Looks to be about what you're wanting to run..maybe a little small on the tires though.

Looks good. Thanks for the idea, but I could use some more. Does anyone else have any input regarding my situation?

Bad news. The red discovery was just sold to another buyer, so I am still in the market. Thanks any way guys. When I get another one lined up, I will be back.

Have you ever owned a 4 wheeler? 40"s on a Disco is crazy, the truck can't handle it and it is a disadvantage off road.
Longer axles aren't an answer, the diff tubes can't handle the stress from those tires.
If you want to build a Disco, listen to people who have them and build acordingly.
