Default 99-02 vs 03-04 Driveshaft

Atlantic British lists these 2 drive shafts as separate part numbers. Are they compatible? They look pretty much identical. I have a spare out of a 2001 and was wondering if I can use it on my '03 need be.

I've never heard of any differences in the driveshafts for the '99-'02 vs. '03-'04 DIIs.

isn't the transmission slightly longer on the later year trucks, which would make the driveshaft shorter?

Shoot. I'll have to pull out the tape measure. I wasn't aware the transmission changed either? My 03 is still rocking the factory non greasable fittings. Figured it'll go eventually. No sense rushing it though since it's still relatively new. Just wanted to have a spare ready. Figured it'll fail at the worst time.

That sounds vaguely familiar. I do remember reading something like that in someone's post.

According to these guys, they're the same and measure 24" - (see last image)

i know that i installed the same lucky8 front driveshaft on both my '99 and my '03 trucks. maybe most manufacturers don't worry about any slight differences in length by making the sliding spline section long enough to accommodate all years.

The difference in the HP22 & HP24 is maybe 1/2 an inch if that. Shaft should have plenty of spline slack to compensate.

I'm also running a 2" lift so I think it'll suffice as a spare.

I’ve got 3inch lifts on the OEM shaft length and zero issues.
