Default 99-04 Disco II Steering Damper Stabilizer Length

Hello all. I am from a benz forum and would like to tap into some land rover knowledge to see if I can remedy a problem we are plagued with. The steering damper or steering stabilizer on our vehicles are rather weak and the only replacement available comes in the form of a stock replacement that is mis-manufactured. Eventually the shock starts leaking or underperforming and needs replacement. The issue is not that we are trying to mask anything but instead that the shocks are just low quality.

Nonetheless, I think the Discovery II steering shock from 99-04 may fit. I was wondering if anyone could give me the following:

Extended Length Eyelet to Eyelet

Compressed Lenth Eyelet to Eyelet

If there are any other dimensions you feel like taking that would be wonderful but not necessary at the moment. Thank you for your help and cheers.

LARRY

All I can tell you is that my D1 is 18" right in the middle...have to take it off to find full extension and compression.

Thank you. I wish a D1 would work but it has different mounts. I need length from a Discovery II. If anyone could steer all the way left and measure then all the way right and measure I would be incredibly grateful!

15.1875 X 24.875 (roughly). I think the DiscoII operates somewhere in that range and has an eye on each side.

You guys are wonderful! Thank you so much from the whole community of offroad enthusiasts. Looks like the DII steering stabilizer is very close if not exactly what I need. I will purchase a cheapo and if it works I will be putting on an old man emu model!
