99 Disco II AC Re charge?
I have an 99 Disco II with 107K miles. The air blows stong but not as cool as it use to be. The heater works fine, and the ac cools a little bit. Can I get one of the DIY recharge kits from autozone and re-charge it? And thoughts or ideas
I just recharged by '01 DII with one of the auto store units. It improved the cooling for a few days, then I discovered I had a leak. May want to check for leaks prior to recharging. The parts store should have a UV dye to put into the A/C system and then with a UV light, find any possible leaks. If you search there are several threads on how to recharge your system.
Same thing swiss said about checking for leaks first and foremost.
I just recharged mine (after checking for leaks) and its been great ever since. If you get one of the DIY kits, be sure it has a gauge on it so you can check the low pressure readings. It will tell you the numbers you need to be at on the back of the bottle. You will most likely need a 30-36 oz can if your A/c is running that bad. Mine was about the same and took the full 30 oz.

So I charged the AC and the Drivers side gets cool, but the passenger side is still warmer, even if the temp is set lower....If I turn on the heat both sides get hot......is there a compressor to charge for the right side too?
You have a stuck blend door in the duct work.
With the truck running and the a/c set to cold both sides bang on the dash with your fist and see if the passenger side then gets as cold as the driverside.
