Default 99 Disco II - Whistling sound

Hello everyone,

I just noticed a whistling noise today, I usually drive with the music on and the windows up so I'm not sure how long it has been making this noise. Today, I changed the oil and checked the fluids. Everything seemed to be in good working order. The whistling noise happens when i accelerate, and it gets fainter/stops as I brake... The sound is coming from the passengers side, sounds like it might be the area behind the glovebox. I can also hear a very faint whistle-type noise when it is idle and in park from the same area.

If anyone has had this problem or can recommend anything for me to take a look at, please do so. I've read somewhere about similar noises having to do with the front drive shaft/u-joints which I had replaced in Jan 06 (soI don't thinkthat is the problem, however, I think that it was guaranteed for up to one year so it wouldn't surprise me that it crapped out already).

Also, if anyone is in the New Orleans area and knows of or can recommend an independent service center/mechanic, that would also be helpful (the Land Rover dealer in town is about as horrid as it gets).

Vehicle specs: 1999 Discovery II, ~ 70k miles

Thanks in advance,

Sam

I had someone suggest that I look into a possible vacuum leak since I can hear the whine/whistle as it idles. Any recs for carb spray and some helpful tips are appreciated.

Thanks

Sam
