Most good tranny shops will tell you they won't back flush a tranny getting close to 100,000 miles because this process will back flow junk into areas it shouldn't be and can kill the tranny.
If you want to be on the safe side, at 70,000 miles, I would suggest you do 2 drain and refills while adding 1 bottle of Lucas additive. A filter at your mileage is not needed cause Rover would have changed the fluid and filter as part of the free 30K service.

Thanks mike. This makes it something I can do myself on the weekend. Do ou feel the Lucas additive really makes a. Difference? Which additive are you exactly referring too (conditioner or the fix?)?

If a BG flush kills the transmission, then it was already on its way out. I am not a BG rep, but sold their products and services at a previous employer. After being through numerous several hour long seminars, and seeing things first hand (at work) I fully trust all of their products and services.

Even after reading all of the coolant stop leak horror stories on this forum, I was confident in their product enough to add their coolant sealant the other month when I developed an external leak from either my head gasket or valley pan. I still plan to make the proper repairs when the weather is more forgiving, but the leak has stopped, and the heater still causes me to sweat if I turn it over 70* with my coat on.

If I remember correctly, the B&G machine does not do a back flow flush which is the difference, and as much as I like their product we never sold it to people with high mileage trannies, just to make sure.

Yes the Lucas product really works and I have only used the older version, haven't tried the new fix, might want to read the 2 bottles and see what has changed.
