Default Aamco tranny flush

Would you trust Aamco to do a tranny flush (power purge) if you supplied your own fluid? I was going to have it flushed and amsoil ATF added. Thoughts?

Change the filter first and then go for it.
Just a FYI though, I think it is going to shift like crap with the full syn trans fluid.

No. Find an indy shop you can trust, or DIY. You need to change filter and fluid. Tranny fluid is high detergent to begin with, most contaminants are on the filter. Miles on vehicle, and has fluid ever been changed?

If you are convinced that a flush is needed, if you change fluid and filter, then change again at a short interval, I bet you can DIY for less than the wallet -vac. Would also be surprised if a national chain will allow you to provide the fluid and them provide any kind of warranty.

I don't know when/if the tranny fluid has been changed in 70k miles. I don't see a dealership record of it so I wanted to start fresh.

I was going to drain the fluid myself and replace, but I wanted to get more that 5-6qt out. I could do the quick drain and then do it again in 10k miles to exchange the bulk of the fluid. would the results be worth it? Or should I find an indy shop and have them flush it completly?

Spike555- Why would a Full synthetic shift worse than an other fluid?

It was not designed to work with full syn.
I cannot say for 100% that you will have shift problems after putting in the full syn ATF but I have heard of many people who have, these were not LR's it needs to be noted.
I would not do it.
I would just take it in, let them do their job and then go home.

see this post https://landroverforums.com/forum/ra...ighlight=flush

That BG flush by an indy would be more trusted than Aamco.

The DII uses standard Dexron III not some special funky fluid that can only be made from venomous ducks.
They are going to hook up their machine full of new fluid, they are going to fire it up and let it run its course.
20 min later all of the fluid will be brand new.

BGFindashop.com

Just bring your own fluid and they provide the conditioner and they will take care of you within one hour.

takes about one hour to do the flush.

you will need twelve quarts I believe.
I don't know we just use a barrel of the stuff.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think I will just find a bg shop and have them flush it and put the dex3 back in.

I'm experiencing these problems with M1 syn ATF... Stick with a conventional ATF, I wish I did.
