Default ABS ECU keeps blowing...

So, I replaced my ABS ecu, as that is what was causing the two amigos (the third must be hung over because it doesn't stay lit). It is the amber HDC light and Trac light that are lit. After replacing the ECU with a known good one, the lights went away. I went to drive it and the lights came back on and won't go away... I'm assuming there is something messed up causing the rover to eat ABS ECUs. Any thoughts on what might cause this?

I doubt it is an ECU issue, they rarely fail. Have you actually had the code read?
Might want to unplug the ABS module and see if you are still blowing fuses, if not, it is a module issue which can be rebuilt or grounded.

Best bet is to get codes read, in my case I just went downtown to an Indy rover shop and they read codes for free. I had the modulator short issue which I fixed with 30 minutes and $5.

If your last ecu was in fact bad it's still likely you have another problem like a wheel speed sensor. How do you know for sure if it is the ecu? It's sealed with no moving parts. Usually never hear of that.

And are all three of your lights on now? When mine was bad I only had one light come on, turns out a previous owner had taken the gauges out and painted over the bulbs. They are LEDs so it is not likely that the bulb is bad. Check around the wiring. Maybe corrosion of a short somewhere?

Code that it is throwing is P1590 which is an ABS rough road signal I think. I checked the fuses, they are fine. How did you fix your modulator short? I should probably look into that.

You do not have a scanner that can read the actual ABS fault codes, That 1590 is a code from an engine scanner that can not go any further into the ABS system.

ABS Mod - LAND ROVER CLUB V.I.

It's a long article but you don't need to do all those steps. Just read over it all before-hand, it's pretty simple.

Get the codes read first, then make the repairs.
