Default abs light on

Hi I just changed the pads & rotors on my 99 Discovery 1 and now the abs light is on from time to time. The brakes also pulsate from time to time when I brake. I used regular generic pads & rotors. I've read that cleaning the sensor can help clear this? If so, where is the abs sensor? Any advice on how to troubleshoot this? Thanks.

What pads and rotors did you use? There shouldn't be any brake pulsation with new rotors unless they were stacked on there side too high and too long and they will have problems. Do you get a ny brak dust, brake squeaks while stopping?

I did notice a bit more break dust than before. No squeaks while stopping. This started after changing out the front drivers side pads & rotors.

Although I have not yet done a brake job, I know that the sensors can trip if they are not secure in the seated position. Sometimes after a brake job they can become slight loose or not seated propoery which will trip the sensor due to moving things around.

One other thing is that the abs light comes on probably half of the time. Which wheel has the sensor on it?

There should be a sensor on each wheel, specifically where I'm not sure as I have not dived into this. My sensor comes on from time to time as well. A while back I took it to Land Rover and they said my left front sensor was just falling apart and that "they just do that". They gave me a ridiculous quote as it's something I can do myself, just was never too concerned over it. Your getting occasional brake pedal vibrations because one of your sensors is not recognizing the wheel and sending a signal to deploy abs. I recommend that you unfortunately take your tires off one by one and make sure your sensors are seated properly. They trip easily if they are not in that sweet spot.

All 4 have sensors. What you need to find is which brake is pulsating, possibly a loose bearing or a bad hub will cause this.
