Like many of you, I have a dysfunctional ABS Module which I am told is a faulty Shuttle Valve. The dealership of course insisted on replacing the entire ABS Module, but is now recommending the "Revised Shuttle Valve Kit". I believe this is likely the ABS Modulator Valve Kit which sells for $900 or so at Atlantic British. I had planned on simply installing the ABS Modulator Shuttle Valve Repair Kit which retails for just $59.

Any input on the difference between these kits? How do I know which I need?

Go with the kit. Can't beat the price and it's a few hours of work if you do it yourself. Others have had success w/ that fix, and there's a post from not too long ago showing the step by step process w/ pics and all. Search for it, if I can find it I'll re-post it for you.

They were $75-100 when I was having issues w/ mine, but they replaced the whole module under warranty. That was about a year ago, so they may be cheaper now. Available from the rover dealer. here's the repair link

OK, I just called a few Land Rover dealers... This is what I found out:

SW0500030.
Shuttle valve repair kit. $75.

Atlantic British sells these for $75: [color=#9e8354]http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/SWO500030G.cfm

Land Rover dealrs are claiming that this is not working and strongly recommend replacing the shuttle valve with:

SW0500040.
New shuttle valve. $800.

Can I get around having to bleed the brakes?

 

nope. Gotta bleed them every time you touch them. Might even consider a good flush if you have a few miles on it.

 

yeah its really annyoing that Land Rover will not recall this... appears to be a major issue...

 

I agree. Especially since it is with the brakes. You don't want to loose ABS with these bricks.
