Default ABS/Trac Control Problems

The 2002 Disco II I am working with is having an odd problem. As soon as I start driving the car at any reasonable speed (10mph or so) the traction control (ABS) engages. The ABS light comes on and the traction control light comes on. The ABS light stays on. When I check for codes with the ABS Amigo no codes are present. I already made sure the ABS Amigo is not the problem. We replaced a Left from wheel bearing and sensor after it was found that that wheel bearing had 3-4" of play and the sensor had physical damage as a result. Anyone have any ideas? Why it would engange the ABS/Trac Control when it isn't needed but it wouldn't code. Makes the car undrivable. Thanks in advance.

I guess the ABS brain is reading the sensor as being fine (ie the proper gap and within the proper range) and the sensor is saying the wheel is spinning. I would call whoever you got the hub from and get another and make sure to get one that has the sensor in it already as I have found that removing them sometimes upsets the truck for whatever reason.

It was acting the same before the bearing/sensor replacement in the left front.

Hmm, it would be nice if you could get live data on the ABS sensor. If you unplug the sensor then what happens?

There is also the issue of the ABS sensor connectors going bad not sure if you got the new style sensors that get soldered directly to the BCU.

this is absolutly true i have done many of them,i have also found that if you dont replace the sensor with the bearing the problems dont go away because the sensor is usually damaged when a bearing goes bad.

I can't get live ABS data with my equipment hence the use of the ABS Amigo. The left front sensor is the kind that plugs into the original connector and is brand new. I don't have any clue why codes are not getting stored when it malfunctions (even though the ABS light comes on till I turn the car off). I hate to throw parts at a problem but I am wondering if I should put a few new sensors and wire them directly in. I cleaned all the abs sensor connectors already. Is there a howto to doing the new-style sensors. Thanks

I could use some advise with this problem. My son was driving and told me he experienced the feeling that it went into hill decent and the the ABS illuminated. Sounds to me from what I read here that the traction control was what he felt. Any help with the proper sequence of troubleshooting steps would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.
