AC works well around town. When on the highway today driving, 65-70 mph, it's not as cold and doesn't seem to blow as strong as usual. It's 85 outside. Seems like a lot of water under the truck when I parked . System recently recharged. After stopping for a while it gets cold again. Is this normal. Thanks.

 

When was the last time you had it recharged, you probably are low on freon.

 

Was it fully evacuated or just topped off?

 

I had it in the shop a month ago to fix ac hose. Not sure if they evac or topped off. Will look at invoice when I get home

 

Yeah, if they didn't, run out to Autozone and buy a can of refrigerant (freon isnot used anymore.) Make sure it has a gauge with it and you can recharge it yourself. I did this about a month ago and the A/c has been great ever since.

 

if they fixed an AC hose I figure they had to evacuate and refill. Maybe you have a small leak somewhere

 

If you keep having to refill the R-134A, there is a leak somewhere. There is a pipe that goes from the "low" vacuum point fill for the a/c system, down the drivers side fender, and ends behind the Land Rover grille badge. That connection is a point of failure, and I should know as I had to replace it for $130.00 and the evaporator/drier as well for another $60.00.
The easiest way detect it is to have UV dye enter the a/c system when it is refilled, and with the UV light check where the leak is. You can also look behind the badge to see if the connection is damp, and/or you might smell the R-134A leaking out. You can also listen for a hissing sound as well.
