Default Accelerator Pedal

Is there supposed to be a rubber cover on the accelerator pedal like the brake pedal? I noticed that mine doesn't have a rubber cover on it and wasn't sure if there was supposed to be one.

I believe the factory fitted petal is actually made of lead and small bits of a dead star. But yes there is a rubber cover, but I don't think it's sold separately.

I looked in Microcat and it looks like you have to buy the whole assembly to get the pad, I'd be tempted to try one of these Pedal Pad Accelerator Pedal (Part # 11H1781L) - Land Rover miscellaneous from Atlantic British
or visit a wrecking yard.
