acceptable oil psi?

Replacing the oil pump gears is quite easy once the housing is removed. Did your rebuild motor includes cam, rod and main bearings, just checking. Another possible cause for low oil pressure is the oil pump housing itself. If it's severly worn or grooved, replacing the gears will not matter.

I'm in the process of changing cam, lifters, oil pump gears, chains and sprockets.

wow........the smallest piece can make or break your engine. I found the cause of all my headache. The oil cooler line that enters horizontally has an o-ring towards the end, that had fell off leaving me with about half the pressure i should have. I put on a new o-ring and instant 40psi. I hope i didn't do any damage to my new bearings. To answer the previous question yes all bearings were replaced cam,rod,main. The reason i didn't bother replacing the oil pump is that i always heard that they were bullet proof. Thanks for all the replies
