As I don't have ACE, I have no prior experience. I think one could simply employ the turkey baster method: suck old fluid from the reservoir with baster, refill with new fluid, start vehicle, allow to run for a while, repeat process a few times until only new fluid is seen in reservoir. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change the ACE filter http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/RVJ100010.cfm per RAVE instructions either.

that's how I did it the last time... I plan on changing my ace fluid every 10k miles just because it gets a burnt/dark color fairly quickly

As best I can tell from Rave, LR doesn't mandate a change of that filter until 120k, if I remember right. But, how many car manufacturers have upped the mileage on maintenance items, so the maintenance costs per year are lower on paper? If there was a filter on a system on my vehicle, I would, at the very least, inspect it long before the recommended service interval.

All this talk about the ACE system has made me paranoid, it is on my list for immediate correction. I too had no idea there was a filter.

When I got to work today, I checked Mitchell On Demand's maintenance intervals. Supposedly, they take their suggested maintenance intervals directly from the OEM.

They show replacement of the ACE filter at 60k, and again at 120k.

If this is correct, DiscoMike's 60k maintenance should probably be updated to include this filter on vehicles equipped aith ACE.

What kind of sound were you getting from your ACE when you decided to check it out?
