Amazing, I had this same thought today after looking for a new engine for my 2003. Car's at 120,000 miles and the head gasket went. I've done a lot of work on the truck over the last two years and was kind of expecting the engine to fail sooner than later. Last year I had low oil pressure on start up and took it in, I found out my oil pump gear was broken in 3 pieces, no clue how long this part was broken and kind of knew that would be a slow death for my beloved disco.

Instead of tossing more money to repair the OEM 4.6, which is pricey I wanted to do a swap to add a little more power. I mean if I am going to spend 5-7,000k on a new engine I don't want the OEM. Not sure what to do ATM.

So now my Disco starts it's transformation into this crazy 4x4 I have wanted to build the last 5 years. I said I would never sell it, and I will stick true to that. I even got buy off from my wife to start this project.
