Dusty1....can you give me a brief how-to on the fluid change for the ACE? I flushed my power steering a few thousand miles ago, does that get the ACE fluid as well?

Thanks!

I am sure there is probably a better, easier, more effective way to do most of the things that I do (keep that in mind before you do anything as I did) but I could not find much of a reference to ace flush.
I did basic suck from reservoir.
1. I used an adapter hose for a transfer pump, but baster thing would work, got what I could out
2. added more fluid, mixed the left over old and new fluids more. (cranked and grabbed roof rack and violently pushed truck from side to side)
3. did step 1 again
4. did step 2 again
5. fluid was looking good , so I drove it a bit (iirc i went to grocery store and bought nutella and bannanas, for sandwiches)
6. fluid was looking clean and clear. so, did step 1 again (for good measure) and filled

if someone can school me on a better technique, that would appreciated

Sorry, my SLS comment was aimed more at Andy

Given the weight-related comment and the bad airbag issue I was pretty sure this was SLS since ACE is hydraulic. Could we be talking about 2 different things?

Thanks for the discussion. I enjoy learning more about these Discos.

Yeah Rob, I think the hiss is related to SLS, not ACE. My bad, getting my Acronyms confused!

Sorry to the OP dusty1 for any confusion.....

Yup, that is how DiscoMike described it to me over the phone. I used Purple synthetic fluid, pretty sure I am due for another flush. Thanks for taking the time to put these inst in here.

Just changed out the ACE fluid with some fresh Royal Purple ps fluid. Wish all Disco maintenance was that easy!

Dusty1, have you cleaned your ACE filter yet? Awaiting your thorough how-to

Just looked at the price of a new filter on eBay....$80!! Ouch, definitely gonna clean th one I have. Any thoughts on what to clean it with?
