Default Adding extra Aux Power outlets, Disco II

I need to add a couple of extra Aux Power (AKA cigarette lighter) outlets to my Disco II, preferably in the back seat area. I'm looking at fabricating something to slide in where the rear ashtray would go, which looks to be pretty easy, but the big question is this: where should I tap for power?? Is there anything conveniently located under the driver or passenger seat? Or do I need to do a pull from the fuse box??

I figure SOMEONE is bound to have done this before...

Thanks,

What is wrong with the outlet in the cargo area?

i thought i saw in my manual that there were a few fuses under the seat. in that case you could use a tap-a-fuse.

In a Rover, you never tap into a stray fuse, that's usually a huge mistake.

Mike, nothing wrong with that one, but it's busy running an ARB 'fridge...

I've got a back seat DVD player which needs one and know from experience that sooner or later there will be PSP/DS/Zune/iPod chargers looking for a home, all driven by the back seat occupants. I'd strongly prefer to not have wires running hell to breakfast around the car, and there really isn't room in the front for those duplexer/triplexer thingies anyway.

I understand the "don't grab a spare fuse" issue the hard way -- one of the rigs I passed on when buying this one had massive electrical issues brought on by someone wiring up a huge amplifier to the "spare" fuses under the driver's seat...

Hence, the question: what *IS* safe to grab?

Run a good heavy line straight to the front fuse block, consider buying and installing a set up so you can add a couple new item, that will have its on relay and fuse.

Mike,

Any recommendations for a kit for such a thing?

Maybe try something from these guys. They seem to be of high quality and are very highly recommended by people doing touring on motorcycles.

Or you can make your own setup with a relay and aux. fuse panel from any auto parts store for about $10-15.
