Default Adjustable Panhard Rod

Now that I'm lifted I want to start sorting out my old steering components. So, I'm starting w/ an adjustable panhard rod (original one has 175,xxx miles on it) and a thought entered my mind. How do I adjust it? What am I looking for when installing/adjusting it? I have about 2.5" of lift over factory height. So, what does this mean with respect to the adjustable rod?

You can not adjust the factory pan hard rod, need to buy one then adjust it so you pull the front diff back to center.

You're centering the axle side-to-side with the panhard rod. As the axle moves up and down with suspension travel, it moves along the arc of the panhard rod (not straight up and down like IFS). So when it moves all the way down, it's also sort of off to one side right? Well, when you lift it, the normal ride height is now such that the axle is a little farther down the arc of travel than it was before, and therefore a little farther to the side (the driver side on a LHD vehicle). The adjustable panhard rod allows you to re-center the axle at ride-height. You can make it a little longer than stock. A lowered car would need a shorter length. It still moves in a sideways arc going up and down, but at least it will be centered when the suspension is at static height.

Thanks for the info. Good stuff. Now, will an alignment shop know how to do this? Or is this something I can do while ibstalling the new adjustable rod? You mentioned just make it a little longer than stock? How much longer for 2.5" lift?
