no, It just barely was touching the piston, barely enough to remove the carbon build up.. I actually think most of the noise was the rocker loosing contact with the valve and slapping it upon opening. The noise just seemed "deeper" or "lower" than other valve ticks i've experienced in the past.

Oh wow, then you got lucky as s#it.

Spike555 gave me this website...you might be able to find a decently priced cyl head there:

Good luck, and glad it wasn't more serious

Got a head from specialized recycling in cali. Took it a week to get to fl. But it only cost $100, and when i took it to the machine shop, he said there is no reason to do anything to it.. Got it back home, put her back together, and she's running fine, for now.. I'm going to replace a few pulleys that are making noise, and the radiator that's had a patch on it for a few years.

One question, I changed the driver's side head. I know I should have checked the pass, side before I started tearing the truck apart, but I didn't. The coolant hoses have a good amount of pressure in them when I get home, how tight should these be.

Mine are tight as a drum when it is warm. They should have a fair amount of pressure.

Glad you didn't drop a liner. Coolant in a cylinder usually indicates that..

Yeah, my truck must be the only bosch 4.0 that has tight liners, i've had this thing smoking hot a few times, the last time hot enough to make one of the exhaust valve seats remove itself.. My machinist was impressed that the liners and bottom-end held together.

I've dodged several bullets, and hopefully have learned my lesson.

"Must be livin' right", That's what my friends say..
