Default Aftermarket Stereo

What is the word on having an aftermarket stereo installed. I just purchased a 2000 Disco II, and the CD changer either was never there or has been removed. I have a Sony 10 changer from my previous vehicle and was wondering about compatability issues with the factory in dash unit. Thanks in advance...............

Did you look under the pass seat to see if the truck had a CD player?
Go to Atlantic British, they have a couple of CD units that will work in your truck with out any problems.

Thanks Mike. Yes, I have checked under the right seat. Have also been to British Pacific. Was wondering if there were any known problems with units other than the Land Rover underseat variety since i already own one.

If you replace the factory stereo itself and not just install a changer are there any code overrides (antitheft) that need to be entered? I'm looking at replacing my factory stereo and wanted to know if there are any grimlins to keep an eye out for.

thanks

If you are replacing the stereo with another factory unit, you will need the code for the new unit. If you are replacing with an aftermarket unit, you don't need it, but you will have to get an adapter because the speakers are on a common ground, and the antenna plug is a different size. This was true for mine, at least. I have a 97 DI.

Not sure what you've got...

Cheers!

Thanks, I'm replacing my factory unit in my '03 Disco with an aftermarket. Thanks for the heads up.

Has anyone tried to pull the head unit out of their Disco? I have a 2003 and need a special tool to remove it. I hard wire my IPOD into the factory setup.
