Default Agressive and Quiet. looking for tires.

Hi, I'm looking for new tires for my 2000 Disco II. I'd like something along the lines of the BFG All Terrain T/A, or slightly more aggressive. And fairly quiet on the road.

I'd also like a longer lasting tire.

The BFG isn't available in the size for my Disco.

So, what do you Disco II drivers use ?? And do you like them ??

My current tires are 255/65/16.

The truck has a stock suspension. I really don't want anything that will rub.

Tire Rack says I can also use a 255/70/16.

I just put Cooper Discoverer ATR's 255/70/16 on my 02 and so far like them. Pretty quiet and seem to have good road manners. 500 tread wear rating which is also good. Price was great, check out Discount Tire.

Stay completely away from the BFG AT's, they are great looking and offer little or no traction on any surface, snow, water, mud or off road.
Go look at the Good Year Dura Trac, probably one of the best tires currently on the market.

I liked my Kumho Road Venture AT KL78 tires I had on my '99 D2, surprisingly quiet on the road for as aggressive as the tread was. I will be putting a set of these on my current D2 once I find a good deal on some 16" wheels. I had them in 265/70/16 on my last D2 but may go 265/75/16 or 245/75/16 for my current one.

I just ordered 5 of these. But it is a 265/75.

They have a 255/70 with similar tread design to the Grappler or RF10 from Hankook I think.

The tires I bought for my D2 were the Yokohama Geolander A/T-S, in the stock size. They aren't very agressive, but I was doing a lot of driving at work at the time, and they were only $120 each, with free shipping. They seem pretty quiet and are better than the worn out highway tread tires I had on there as far as off road driving.

Now that I have a cheap car to drive at work, I wish I would have bought something more agressive... I was looking at:

But i'd need to find some 7" rims and the stock land rover steel wheel costs more than the 8" wide alloys, because I cannot seem to find any used.

Isn't 235 a little thin for the weight of the rover?

235/70R16 is the stock size on a Disco I in North America. The RRC had 205's.
