Post Air Condition blowing hot air

What's up guys? I have a 2002 Discovery series II, the air conditioning is only blowing cold out of the two drivers side vents, it blows normal air through the passnger side vents and extremely hot air into the floor vents. Any idea why this may be happening?

Thanks, Shannon

First check your freon level and add a pound if needed. If not then it could be your blend flap motors or servos are bad.

common problem and a result of low gas pressure.

If you are blowing cold from one area and not the other, you have freon, I would agree with the the other reply, bad servo or blend door issue.

Mine did this recently, cold from one side and just normal temp from the other, I to suspected the mix flaps in the heaterbox, and after LOTS of messing with them, determined there was nothing wrong.........consequently found out I had a leak in the aircon system, a new pipe was needed, re-gassed and now 100% cold from both sides.

I don't know how or why it goes like that..........and it certainly leads the brain to think along the lines of mix valves etc, but IMO it is HIGHLY unlikely it is a flap / valve in the heater box.

Good information, as with you, doesn't make sense but for whatever reason, it worked for you, that is the bottom line we are all looking for.

How about this, I had a fast leak (losing a pound in a couple days). I kept adding a pound of the R134a with the leak stop in it but it just kept leaking. So I gave up and stopped using my AC until I had a chance to trouble shoot. Came back a month or so later put a pound of refrigerant with UV dye and that was 2 weeks ago and my AC is still blowing cold and holding the pressure but the compressor was a bit loud. I put a can of oil in and everything is quiet as can be now.

Fingers crossed but it seems that the leak guard needed some time to marinate or set, who knows.
