Default Air Conidtioning

I have a 2001 Discovery. We turned on the rear air conditioner and now neither AC is working. I can feel a very slight flow of cold air from the front one but no help in this 100 degree heat we are having. Please help.

So a couple of questions - does fan blow at various speeds when you set it to do so (low, high, etc.)? AC compressor could be good, but internal fan might not be circulating the cold air. Fans have fuses, relays, power transistors, and can have lots of leaves packed inside them.

When you engage AC do you hear a click and AC compressor under the hood engages? Facing the engine, it is on the right at the top, that thing on the left is the alternator, both are turned by the fan belt. If compressor does not engage you may have low refrigerant. If it is engaging, lightly touch the big pipes that go to it, one will be hot and the other should be very cold, with condensation ususally.

Number one cause is some refrigerant has escaped over time. DIY repair from autoparts store, a can of refrigerant with a valve. If one can does not do it, you'll need a set of gauges and or take it to a shop to go much further.

I think he means compressor is producing cold air, but neither fan works. I was looking at Rave yesterday (don't have time right now, I have trout to catch) but I think I remember separate passenger compartment fuses for front and rear fans, with possible common component under hood. Rave is your friend. Good Luck!

I'm taking a break. Some men are more equal than others.
