OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer. In this case you want to stick with the same paper filter as Land Rover originally designed it as.

The nice thing about my other car is you are able to convert it to a Hitachi MAF, the Hitachi isn't affected by oil, dirt etc. as the Bosch is.

Any idea if this is a possibility with the Disco'?

When doing it with my other car you actually have to re-map the ECU via the OBDII with certain software, or buy a new ECU programmed for the Hitachi.

A word to the wise is never clean your Bosch MAF with anything if you don't want to buy another one, they don't take to being cleaned and were never designed to be cleaned, by Bosch, for any reason. To clean one out of general maintance is foolish unless you just want to buy a replacement a month later.
