Akebono pads are supplied with a paste type of sound deadening material, use it not copper spray or anti seize for much better results.
Before tearing the brakes down, put the pad on a piece od news paper, in the sun if possible, with the metal backing plate up, smear on some of the paste and let it sit prior to installing.

Well the pads have been installed but the rotors are not here yet, so I cut the rotors for now. Brakes feel good but the initial bite is meh, although when they are warm they are nice, no fade either. Will update once new rotors are in.

Why would anyone put cross drilled or slotted rotors on a vehicle like this unless its for aesthetic purposes. It does nothing for performance....at all. Heat distribution/exchange is better for things with more mass. In turn, by drilled the rotors you create weak points in the rotor and reduce mass. Modern day pads do not need to "outgas" so there is no need for the cheese grater on the rotors. It's physics people... Ok we'll it's been a few miles since I installed the akebono pads and r1 concepts blank rotors. They feel good, braking power is not comparable to stock but that may be due to the fact that I haven't flushed the brake fluid yet, will Do this week.

If you take a look on Tirerack.com. It states Akebono pads take 300 -400 miles to bed in. So the may not feel really good for a month or more depending on how much you drive your rover.
