In the time that I have been on this forum I remember at least 6 04's with bad oil pumps.

Not this time. that was a suggestion for someone else to do it. and once its done i will make it a sticky. Someone else, (Not Spike) but someone with an 03 should do it. (not me either)

Is it the area or are you guys just really good at talking prices down?

it's the area.

it's also the reason people should consider traveling when buying a used car.

I have mixed feelings about traveling to buy a vehicle. I've traveled out of state to buy a jetski and a junk jeep and it turned out ok. However, if I drive a long way and when I get there the vehicle isn't as advertised I'm going to be extremely pissed.

Default i 2nd that

Like what Mrmerlin said, you will find much better private pricing from craigslist. Even the private listings found on cars.com, autotrader and the like tend to price similar to the dealers are listing. I was able to find a '04 with 77k for $9500and I missed an opportunity to buy a similar one for $8800.

Pretty sure they were all Bosch for '03 and '04.

LR farmed these engines out to someone else who didn't calibrate their machining, supposedly.

Based on the number of '04 oil pump failures that we've had lately, I'm not convinced the problem was 100% fixed. After all, if a half dozen people come here to post about it, there must be dozens more who don't.
