Question Almost off topic... 2005 transmission... does it fit ?

Hi.
Perhaps someone knows. A tempting 2005 LR3 is being sold with bad transmission. Will my 2000 transmission fit in it ?

The LR3 uses various versions of the 6HP transmission. Discos use the 4HP22 or 4HP24. I figure that the difference in the number of speeds alone will mess up the TCU even if it would physically fit.

The LR3's are 6spd compared to our 4spd. The LR3's are SUPER finnicky and picky when it comes to electronics. I had a rat chew through the transmission temperature sensor wire (located ontop of the engine on the passenger side, and a knock sensor wire. Oddly enough the ecu didn't care that the knock sensor wire were broken but the transmission temp sensor wire being broken rendered the car inoperable. I could start the car for 1-3 seconds before it would die. No codes at all. The reason it wouldn't start is because the ecu thought the transmission was over 500+ degrees celsius due to the voltage being 0, and it would shut the engine off to protect it. Another odd thing is that if you disconnect the navigation unit (if fitted) the radio won't have any sound. Because for what ever reason the ground wire is ran through the navigation unit.

Idk if it would physically fit or line up. But my point is the amount of work it would need to make it play nicely would greatly exceed the cost of a new/used transmission.

No but you can find an 05-09 transmission usually for 300.00 at a salvage yard. You'd really want an 08-09 unit if possible.
