Hello, I'm getting conflicting answers to if a earlier D2 (99-02) alternator will fit & work in my 04. Anyone know for positive? And thank y'all ahead of time

99-02 Range Rover 150AMP out of a Bosch setup is also 100% compatible.

I've never heard that the alternators were not compatible, but AB shows different part numbers for the '99-'02 and the '03-'04. I wonder why. Anybody know?

Good to know. What is the amperage on a stock D2 alternator?

Cool, so buying an '01 would be an upgrade in amperage

That's what was confusing me. AutoZone showed different part numbers, but rockauto.com showed the same. Unfortunately, the only one remotely near me in a wrecking yard is an '01. Well, not unfortunately anymore, lol

99-02 D2/Range Rover used Bosch 130/150amp alternators. While 03-04 D2's used Valeo Alternators which I believe are still 130amp units.

I have had good luck pulling alternators from "wrecked" D2/Range Rovers that appeared to be driving before the accident. Pulling one from a D2/Range Rover that looks clean is more of a 50/50 chance, but 25.00 isn't a very expensive gamble.
