am I playing with fire?
As part of an upcoming summer rover project I am removing the headliner to have it repaired. While it is out I have every intention of repairing all the leaks and both sunroofs. Today I couldn't help my self and decided to go out and poke at the rover. I pulled down the little access panel and did the caveman thing on the front motor.. it started to work.. I opened and closed it several times. Figure in the motor is shot and probably on borrowed time, I closed it. Did the same for the rear.. nada? I hear clicks and what not coming from the control box up front. Am I safe to assume the motor is toast? I also read through lots of threads.. I kept reading about converting them to a manual crank, my xr4ti had this.. it was awesome. How can it be done?
Good info on the subject:

Basically, you can use any 4mm allen wrench on the electric versions to open/close them manually.
This:
Land Rover Discovery Genuine OEM Factory Sunroof Manual Handle
is basically an allen wrench with a egrnomic plastic handle specifically for the sunroof.

I tried the Allen wrench on the rear motor... b that one is stiff as a brick. No moment what so ever. Opened the front because I couldn't help myself.. started to rain right after. Closed it right up.
