Default Is this amount of steering play normal?

Just replaced the entire suspension last week and wondering if this amount of steering play is normal. Never noticed it before. Most obvious with the engine off and just parked.

That looks pretty good, did you tighten the slack on the steering box?

Adjustment screw and locknut on top of steering box, check the rave for procedure. Basically loosen nut, tighten screw until resistance, hold with wrench and tighten locknut.

Take care NOT to over-tighten. It's a bit subjective, but will cause wear you don't want if you get it wrong. Go to the "good" point and stop. More is NOT better.

Also, it’s likely to a bit more worn in the middle of travel (wheel centred) as that’s where it gets most of its use. I don’t know the procedure on the D2, on but other vehicles I’ve turned the wheel away from centre to adjust it.

Mine has about that much or a little less play in the wheel while the engines off but I'm pretty sure most of my suspension is original. But I've been told that Discoverys came from the factory with a little bit of play in the wheel like that.
