Default Andriod or PC scan software

Hello,
I stumbled on a post showing an Ultragauge, and that got me thinking: could I use OBD2 to USB dongle to my Sony Vaio to read/log the ecu while driving? I currently have an Actron reader, but in this day and age I should be able to do better affordably. Are any of you doing this? I think the kids with their street racers are.

Plenty of us are using a elm327 bluetooth obd2 reader and the Torque app to do this on our phones. There is also software available to do this with your laptop as well.

That thing is barely $10 on Amazon! Worth a try!

I second ARMYRover. The torque app and the BT dongle are a very good tool for little cash investment... It also make a great tool to monitor the system while on the move.

you might have to buy the pro version of torque to get graphing... it is like maybe 5 bucks so not a great investment. To be honest however i almost always buy the pro-version of an app as i have no problem with kicking in a few bucks for peoples work and I hate adds...

The pro version of torque is definitely worth the money. That with my little Bluetooth reader has been the only code reader I've needed for any of my vehicles across the past three Or four years.

For those using an apple or android device to monitor your engine, what mounts are you using to hold your device? windshield suction cup, a/c vent mount, etc?
