Does a properly working HDC give the pressure to the wheels that need it?Meaning does it switch bias from front to rear when backing down a hill.Thefront has the majority of the braking power. When going down a hill in reverse the weight is transfered from the front to the back were there is less braking power allowing the front tires to lock up and have no steering control. Don't forget the hand brake when you have brake failure, that is if you have time.

Its my understanding that HDC Works to Make you not lock up any wheels hold a pre set Speed and keep you having full stering Control bud sadly in this case it didint do that it went from me letting the break go to 50 plus in a matter of seconds and it was in Reverse not drive .. and the e break wasent much help cause in my year its a cuopling on the drive shaft like a electric clamp sorta that clams on the Drive shaft when applied wich just would locked up the wheels worse if you look at the picture below youll see the HDC was still on

AFAIK, the HDC controls braking at each wheel, and pulses much faster than you can apply by foot.

RoverHum we belive you that you were in low and with the HDC on. We are just trying to figure out what went wrong so that others may learn and not have this happen to them.
We cannot afford to lose any readers.
Ithink Willie might be onto something. Over 60% of your stopping power is at the front wheels. It would make sense that the rear brakes couldnt handle the load and the HDC gave more power to the front wheels not knowing that you were in reverse.
I dont know, I didnt engineer the system.
This is another reason I like DI's, if something goes wrong it is my fault all the way, no questions, my fault.

Apparently your wife has never heard the saying that if the horse bucks you, you get back in the saddle and try again. I know that's not quite how it goes but you get the picture. You're absolutely right, the fact that you and the kids are alive should be all the reason she needs for letting you get another Rover. Nothing else would protect you like it did. I have never looked at the Range Rovers but I really want an 04 Discovery. It has all the best a Discovery has to offer, except for a diesel engine here in the states but that's just my preference. The LR3 is nice and I've been impressed with what I have read about their ability off-road but they are just too expensive. Just my 2 cents.
