You know, technically the LR3 is the Discovery III.

 

Yeah they call it Discovery 3 everywhere else in the world except in the states. I've heard (I could be wrong) its because people associate the discovery name with unreliability and Land Rover was worried it was going to hurt sales so the renamed it... Which I don't think was very smart. They should merge the LR3 and Discovery forums lol.

 

I thought it was because all (luxury) cars seem to be named with letters and numbers in the states and LR had to keep with the times.

could be... I've just seen this on wikipedia.com but that doesn't mean what i said was true.

 

The 04 is my favorite and that one is BEAUTIFUL! I'd get one but if i upgrade my current car it kinda has to be a 7 passenger and I have a hard time finding discoverys with the 3rd row seating.

I used to live in CA but, I'm in Idaho now so I would have to travel down there and get one. But it would probably be worth it considering they want about 6 to 10k more for some rovers up here vs. elsewhere.
