Default Another coolant leak

I had an issue where the thermostat broke off and posted a thread that is only a little bit older and since that issue seems resolved I need some help with a new issue.

So the thermostat broke off when my water pump failed, that I am sure of now. I've replaced the thermostat, pulleys, and water pump.

When it now gets to operating temps, around 194 now there is a leak from above the water pump. It is a good steady stream from just above the pump on the right side of the alternator. From reading other posts I know there are a couple of hoses and a metal pipe that might leak. Would like to try and narrow it down before tearing things apart though. I know you will tell me to do a pressure test and if I did one now I don't think I would be able to tell where the leak is coming from.

Where should I start removing things from? It's not from the driver side or rear, just right above the water pump.I attempted a photo but really can't get to show very well.

Not much "right above" the waterpump, besides the hose that goes to the lower intake inlet tube. The inlet tube has a gasket where it mounts, but normally...if it is leaking from there it runs down the valley pan to the rear of engine. There is an o-ring on the heater hose tube, passengers side - front, goes into lower intake also...might be there. You have the throttle body heater also, drivers side of throttle body, beneath air intake connection...there will be two small hoses connected to the housing, check there and the tube that crosses over the engine from reservior and the shorter one that hoes into lower manifold behind A/C compressor mount.

Good luck.

Brian.

I will try and get a video of it to post. I replaced the throttle body gasket about 20,000 miles ago, and that o-ring as well. Seems like too much of a coincidence that this happens at the same time I replaced the water heater.

It could be the timing cover, that really thin spot on the gasket on the right hand side cooling passage.

If it overheated it could have blown the front cover seal as suggested. O'reilly has the pressure tester you can use for free. With the pressure tester you can remove the alternator as well as the entire mount to see where the leak is coming from.

Here's a video link. I will try the test. Looks like coming from under/behind alternator maybe.

Could be the water pump at the top of the gasket.

I think it is well above it. The angle makes it hard to see in the video but it appears not to be the water pump.

Is it coming from the hose, directly above alternator mounting bolt...or does it seem to be running down the mounting bolt bracket? Hard to tell in the video, if it dripping from hose or bracket. You can see staining on the hose tube, did you try tighten the clamp? If it is running down the bracket, l'd be taking a look at everything above/behind that. O-ring on heater hose tube (passenger side -front of lower intake), reservior plastic tube to throttle body heater, throttle body hose to manifold or the lower manifold/valley pan gasket. Seems like l mentioned all of this before...lol.

EDIT...you've got the belt off, unbolt alternator and swing it out of the way for a better look.

Did a pressure test (after 3 different autozones to get a working kit) and surprised to find the throttle body heater leaking. Got a gasket for it and the throttle body and put it back together. Leaking from the hose to the TBH, ugh. Tightened it a bit more and will see what I missed on a test drive.

Thanks for the help thus far.
